'We Have Grit' - Original Painting - Large Feminist Wall Art

I was watching a cartoon with my toddler and I heard this awesome quote from one of the characters. We Don't Quit, We Have Grit. I thought that was the most exciting and empowering thing I'd heard on a cartoon (the ones he watches are dire sometimes!!) and it inspired me. I took the quote directly and I made this piece. My handwriting is awful so I made stencils for the text.
But first, the painting was done using a layered effect, using all kinds of brushes and tools to make marks and create depth. The colour scheme was chosen as it just sang 'Loud and empowering' to me and that's the energy I wanted to put out into the world.

It's a large painting because I love to work on a bigger scale. It allows me to be bold with shapes, marks and colours and it really becomes a statement piece, rather than a tiny artwork that you have to squint to see in full detail.

It hung in a gallery for a couple of weeks, and didn't sell, but I was still proud that people would be able to see my work and I'm still proud of this artwork to this day.

I hope it finds a loving forever home with someone who resonates with the energy of the piece.
